Category D1 + E is for minibuses with a trailer in excess of 750kg MAM.
Drivers who passed their Category B test before January 1997 already have
Category D1+E on their driving licence but restrictions apply.
Drivers who passed their basic Category B (car/light van) test after January
1997 will have to pass a Category D1 test
before being permitted to undertake Category D1+E.
Passing a Category D1+E test will increase the COMBINED vehicle and trailer
limit to a MAXIMUM of 12 tonnes. There are weight, combination and age
restrictions applied.
