Category D1 - Minibus
Category D1 is for those who passed their car driving test since January
1997 and who wish progress from Category B vehicles.
Category D1 covers minibuses (9–16 seats). You will normally need
to be minimum of 21 years old. You may pass Category D1 at 18 but restrictions
will apply. You may also tow a trailer up to 750kg MAM.
You will be required to pass a medical examination, a multiple choice
Theory Test, a video based Hazard Perception Test and a multiple choice
Case Study before being able to undertake practical driving tuition.

Flag Theory Preparation courses.
Practical tuition now consists of two tests, your driving test and a further
test on vehicle inspection, passenger care and security.
Drivers who passed their Category B test before January 1997 already have
Category D1 on their driving licence, but restrictions apply.
